Our Chinese Textbook 1 is an excellent introduction to Chinese language for absolute beginners as it covers pinyin, tones, meanings, strokes, stroke order and the structure of the Chinese characters. Basic Chinese grammar patterns are covered in eighteen lessons which are very effective in making students acquire a good knowledge of Chinese sentences. Our Chinese Textbook 1 generally provides a very good and coherent foundation of the language and students can reach proficiency suitable for G.C.E. Ordinary and Advanced Level from this book. Our Chinese Textbook 1 will assume that you have no prior knowledge of Chinese. but willing to take Chinese as a serious subject of study. Each lesson contains a combination of new vocabulary and new grammar in a gradual progression, building on previous lessons. Our Chinese Textbook 1 includes English, Sinhala and Tamil notations.

Each lesson of Our Chinese Textbook 1 consists of four parts:

1. Dialogue – Here you will see a dialogue carried out by two or more people. All texts are given in 3 versions: Simplified Chinese, Hanyu Pinyin, and an English translation.
2. Vocabulary – New vocabulary for the lesson, with English, Sinhala and Tamil translations.
3. Grammar – This section breaks down all of the new sentence structures introduced in the dialogue and shows example sentences to reinforce them.
4. Exercises – Questions and activities to test comprehension of the material. Could be used as homework or as review material for lesson exams.
